"Pick" means setting a screen, "roll" means the player playing the screen (the wall) slips behind the defender and accepts a pass. In many instances in current NBA games, it's just the "pick" (the screen setting) and there is no "roll" part. It's not called "pick and roll", it's simply called screen setting, or just "pick". More often than not, the offense player simply uses the screen to block the defender(s) so he can drive on or just shoot the ball. ... |
