Just like you said, a killer's worth to a community may be far less than the victim's worth; using that same theory, executing the killer doesn't make seem like a "fair trade." If you're looking the judicial system like that, then you're someone who believes in vengeance and our judicial system should act based on retribution.
For the same case, executing the killer can be an effective method to serve as secondary prevention, which is to execute the killer so he/she cannot kill someone else later. I believe a lot of western countries choose not to have capital punishment because those countries came across studies demonstrating that capital punishment does not effectively prevent killing/murder.... |
